Not only have Ron’s paintings influenced the world, but he has sold millions of books working in collaboration with such well-known authors as Max Lucado, Jerry Jenkins, Frank Peretti, Randy Alcorn, and Joni Eareckson Tada. Ron’s creative mind is exploding with potential book ideas. How we met and became partners is the result of a supernatural divine appointment because of one man hearing God speaking to him and then obeying. When you hear the story, I think you will agree that the odds of it happening the way it did are beyond staggering.

The story involves four people—Ron DiCianni, who lives in Temecula, California; his agent, Karen Hardin, who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma; another Ron, Ron Checki, who lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and myself, also in Baton Rouge.

On April 19, 2010, Karen Hardin contacted me saying she was the agent for artist Ron DiCianni and was interested in the two of us possibly working together on some of his book projects. At that time, Karen was not my agent, and we had not spoken for over a year. We were friends and had done some work together in the past. Karen felt strongly that Ron and I would make a good team and asked me to submit a list of my latest projects. I sent her the list, which included a book collaboration I was doing with a senior host on the QVC Network.

One month later, on May 20, Karen told me that Ron wasn’t interested in working with me, primarily because he had already talked with another well-known writer who was excited about collaborating with him. That was totally understandable. There was no reason for him to consider me. Karen reiterated, however, on several occasions how strongly she felt that we should be working together. But with Ron in California, her in Tulsa, and me, a virtual unknown, in Louisiana, it would take quite an effort to get us together for a face-to-face. On the flip side, I was so busy with the QVC book and other projects that I had really moved on from considering working with Ron.

Then, after almost a month, on June 10, Karen contacted me again and asked if I could possibly talk to QVC about the network reviewing Ron DiCianni’s art. My response was, “Sure. I can do that, but let me feel out the optimal time.” Karen sent me Ron’s promotional material to give to QVC when I felt the time was right. All during this time, she was still thinking what a good writing team Ron and I would make.

Eleven days later, on Monday, June 21, I contacted Karen to tell her I felt the time was right, that this was the week I was going to talk to QVC and give them Ron’s information. I asked her to please e-mail me any final promotional material she had on Ron. Now here’s where the story gets supernatural. Remember, Ron is in California, Karen is in Tulsa, and I’m in Baton Rouge. Also, it’s important to note that Ron deals with so many people that he had forgotten my name by now.
